Status: endangered in Kenya and numbers appear to be decreasing in the Serengeti-Mara; still common in parts of South Africa
Habitat: Gerenuk prefer woody vegetation in semi-arid thornbush forests. They are found in areas close to the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem below 1 200 meters (4,000).
Role: herbivore
Food: Gerenuk eat the tenderest foliage available.
Predators: lion, leopard, spotted hyena
