Length: 140-160 cm (56-64")

Height: 80-105 cm (32-42")

Tail: 23-35 cm (9-14")

Weight: 29-52 kg (64-114 lb.)

Status: endangered in Kenya and numbers appear to be decreasing in the Serengeti-Mara; still common in parts of South Africa

Habitat: Gerenuk prefer woody vegetation in semi-arid thornbush forests. They are found in areas close to the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem below 1 200 meters (4,000’).

Role: herbivore

Food: Gerenuk eat the tenderest foliage available.
