Length: 170-250 cm (68-88")

Height: 110-130 cm (44-52")

Tail: 24-65 cm (9-26")

Weight: 210-404 kg (462-889 lb.)

Status: Currently, it is not endangered in Africa as a whole but is endangered in Sierra Leone and Ghana. It is not found in Tanzania. It is locally common on Mount Kenya and other forested parks in Kenya. It is not found in the Serengeti-Mara region but may occur in Ngorongoro highlands.

Habitat: Bongos prefer forested habitats where openings create suitable browsing conditions. Areas browsed heavily by elephants are ideal.

Role: herbivore

Food: Bongos are browsers and feed on trees, saplings, herbs and vines. They live in small herds. The largest herd reported numbered 50.
