Weight: 54-115 kg (119-253 lb.)

Status: common but rarely seen

Habitat: montane forests, moist woodlands, grasslands and swamps; usually stays well hidden during the day in the Serengeti-Mara and ventures forth to feed at night

Role: herbivore

Food: forages for roots, bulbs and fallen fruit
