Length: 50-63 cm (20-25")

Tail: 28-37 cm (11-15")

Weight: 3-6.4 kg (7-14 lb.)

Status: It is not endangered. This cat is the ancestor of the domestic cat (pictured). It is the most common cat across Africa.

Habitat: grasslands and woodlands

Role: carnivore

Food: hares, rodents, birds, reptiles, frogs
