Length: 1-1.7 m (3’4"-5’8")

Tail: lacking

Weight: 30 kg (66 lb.) female, 40-55 kg (88-121 lb.) male

Status: species of concern; numbers are declining due to habitat loss

Habitat: rainforests and montane forests; moist savannas

Role: omnivore

Food: Chimpanzees are omnivores and eat a wide variety of food including flowers, seed pods, fruits, seeds, flowers and grasses. They also eat insects, centipedes, lizards, bird's eggs and nestlings. Some chimpanzees hunt monkeys and baboons.

Predators: Large eagles, leopards , lions and baboons are their main enemies. Turn to Next Page
