Length: 49-75 cm (20-30")

Tail: 50-74 cm (20-30")

Weight: 4-13 kg (9-29 lb.)

Status: It is not threatened. However, it is only found in one small area of the northern Serengeti.

Habitat: A variety of habitats ranging from open grasslands to dry woodlands. It likes woodland/grassland margins. Adult males are very vigilant in the open.

Role: omnivore

Food: It is omnivorous. It feeds on acacia pods, seeds, galls, young leaves, gum flowers as well as those of other savanna trees. It also eats insects, small vertebrates and fungi.
