Trophic Level IV: Large Carnivores
Table of Contents

This book deals with the carnivores that are generally regarded as being at the top of their food chains. In the rivers and lakes, the top carnivore is the crocodile. In the air, the eagles and owls hold that position. On land, the big cats, the hyena and the wild dog are the animals that fill that role. There is no single animal species that holds the top position entirely on its own. Lions are sometimes killed by hyenas and crocodiles may be killed by leopards.
